The reductive mammoplasty is a surgical procedure which aims to reduce breast volume. The removal of excess breast tissue and breast skin gives a more proportional aspect to the rest of the body. The areola can also be reduced and repositioned in the same procedure. After removing the excess, tissues are repositioned giving a new shape to the breast and a new position for the areola and nipple.

The extent and location of the incision may vary depending on the size and shape of the breasts and how much the patient wishes to reduce.

Therefore surgery is best suited for:

  • Patients with back, neck and shoulder pain due to the breast´s weight;
  • Heavy and sagging breasts with very low areolas or oversized breasts and out of proportion to the body ;
  • Irritation on the skin underneath the breasts;
  • Shoulderinjuries caused by bra ;

Physical activity restrictions or lack of self confidence due to breast volume.
